Regardless of whether your preference is for the beer on offer, the live sports coverage available or just somewhere you can place some wagers from, keep reading for a rundown of the best sports bars in New York!

Scruffy Duffy’s

If New York City does anything well when it comes to the bar scene, it is the excellent array of Irish bars on offer. This is equally true for the sports bar scene.

Scruffy Duffy’s is a mainstay on the bar crawl circuit for sports fans in New York City and has been serving pints for decades.

In addition to a decent selection of TVs, Scruffy Duffy’s also has various pub games available, such as darts and pool tables, to keep you busy on those rare evenings when there isn’t anything worth watching. We are particularly fond of Scruffy Duffy’s interior, which features vintage beer signs and plenty of Irish pub memorabilia.

If you like the atmosphere of an Irish pub but don’t want to miss out on the game, Scruffy Duffy’s is the place to be!

Stout

In terms of the best sports bars to cheer on your favorite teams in New York, there are fewer better watering holes than Stout.

Located right in the heart of the financial district at 90 St. John Street, Stout attracts sports fans from across the city on game day — although it does tend to have a particular draw for corporate types looking to drown their sporting sorrows as well.

Stout has four locations around the city and the financial district location is arguably their premier offering. It has a seemingly endless array of TVs, a solid array of drinks on tap and high ceilings that give it a spacious feel.

Tap Haus 33

Another solid sports bar in the heart of NYC Manhattan is Tap Haus 33 which, as the name suggests, is a pretty solid ‘tap house’ by any measure!

Tap Haus 33 features a staggering array of beers, which as of a recent count is up to 40 taps and a stocked fridge full of independent brews! Tap Haus 33 even has a unique system that allows you to fill up a card with cash to be used in-house, saving you the hassle of bringing your wallet on a night out!

Tap Haus 33 is open late and also has a pretty killer menu filled with your bar-food favorites.

Triona’s

Another solid offering that combines the atmosphere of an Irish pub with the excitement of a sports bar is Triona’s at 192 3rd Avenue.

Triona’s is wedged right in the heart of Gramercy, in addition to locations in StuyTown and Kips Bay. Despite its obvious Irish heritage, it is as much a Michigan bar as it is anything else.

Triona’s is the perfect place for sinking a few pitchers of light beer and has more than enough TVs and bar seating to go round. Although it doesn’t depart too far from the standard sports bar formula, it is still one of our favorite game-day watering holes in New York City.

Reservoir

Although this is certainly one of the budget options on the list, who can say no to reasonably priced beers?

Located in the heart of Greenwich Village and surrounded by the NYU campus, Reservoir is a staple for students and locals alike on gamedays. It stays open until 2am every day and attracts a nicely mixed clientele who are united by a love of sports!

While it definitely has an ‘undergrad bar’ feel to it, the atmosphere here tends to be electric when there’s a big game on. With reasonably priced beers, decent bar food and plenty of TVs to tune-in to, what’s not to love?

The next time you find yourself in the Greenwich Village area and are desperate to watch your favorite sports team, Reservoir comes heartily recommended!
