When my friends started planning a trip to Dublin for St. Patrick’s Day, I was beyond excited. What better place to spend this holiday than in the capital of Ireland? Talk about getting the ultimate St. Paddy’s experience! However, after booking my flight, I started getting mixed responses when I told people about my epic plan. People warned me that it would be so crazy busy in Dublin that weekend that I wouldn’t even be able to enjoy it, and others worried that the increased prices for flights and Airbnbs wouldn’t be worth it. Some even wondered if it would really be that big of a party. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to any of these people, because they were wrong—Dublin is THE place to be for St. Patrick’s Day.

Yes, the flight was pricey and yes, it was very difficult to find somewhere to stay. This is a trip you want to book well in advance, so start planning now! Flights only get more expensive as the holiday gets closer, and hotels and Airbnbs book up fast. But I promise overcoming these obstacles is worth the fun you’ll have when you finally get there.

So what’s all the hype about? Well, first of all, Dublin is filled with happy people in the mood to celebrate on St. Paddy’s Day. Everyone I met was so friendly and fun, I immediately fell in love with the city. The bar scene is as great as you’d expect on this beer-centric holiday, with every pub packed with lively guests all day long. You’ll need to be prepared for some rowdiness, and expect to have a hard time finding someplace to sit in a pub, but that’s all part of the fun! Be sure to start partying early, because the celebration is just as wild at noon as it is at midnight. You’re never going to want this day to end; I sure didn’t!

Dublin goes all out for St. Paddy’s, hosting a parade, decorating the streets with balloons and flags, and selling festive apparel and accessories everywhere you look. This is one of those must-do trips, and there’s no time like the present! So grab your friends and cheers with a pint of Guinness, because you all have a St. Patrick’s Day trip to book!
