Of course, Paris is known for incredible wines. But it’s an even more enchanting city to journey through natural wine bars.

These wines are made as natural as possible, as the fruit is grown organically, with some vineyards even reverting as far back as using traditional wagons on the farms. In the cellar, the fermentation process is completed with native yeasts without the use of neither additives nor chemicals. So the wines are bottled unfiltered and probably needs to be finished drinking within a day, once it’s been uncorked.

With advanced strides made in the sustainable industry, here are some of the best natural wine bars in Paris to uncover the next wave of wine tasting.

La Cave du Daron offers a whopping 450 bottles of natural wines alongside traditional favorites, like: cheese and charcuterie. Daron is a slang word in French, meaning “father,” quite emblematic of the wine selections here. Generous, all-encompassing and formidable. On certain nights, the wine bar also hosts collaborations with various guest chefs. Definitely come here for the wine, and sip on local vibes in the 11th arrondissement.

Soif, la Cave à Pigalle is led by owners that distribute natural wines to festivals around town. If you find yourself venturing in the Pigalle neighborhood after visiting Moulin Rouge or Montmartre, this is a wonderful wine bar with a lovely selection on tap, as well as ones stored in reusable bottles. It also serves organic and seasonal dishes to accompany affordable and biodynamic wines.

PÉPITES Caviste et Bar à vin‘s owner has collected over 1,500 bottles of natural wines, unearthed as he traveled throughout distinct regions of France. All of them are stored in this jewel on the Left Bank’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood, inside a former 14th century wine cellar. The wine bar hosts tastings with the winegrowers every month, in a cool underground environment. Or, you can also easily pick up a bottle then enjoy it on a bench at Jardin du Luxembourg.

In the ultra-cool Belleville neighbohood, La Cale further brightens it with delight. The quirky wine bar carries around 150 labels that you can also simply try by the glass. If you’d like to nibble on snacks, wait until your stomach is truly hungry as the food here is also just as fabulous as the wine. Start with decadent oysters, move on to flavorful mussels, then destroy the semi-cooked line-caught bigeye tuna with spicy Asian sauce.

Pony Club can be found in the always charming 18th arrondissement, where this cave à boire/cave à manger is Timothy Schweizer’s brainchild, known for discovering extremely rare bottles. Along with wine tasting, the small plates are equally refined, try the refreshing ricotta, cucumber on Cantabrian anchovies toast. Or a simple plate of dried Salers-Angus Picard beef, drizzled in olive oil, sprinkled with roasted hazelnuts.

228 Litres is definitely a fan-favorite, situated in the forever beloved Montmartre. Even if the bottles are a bit more expensive than in other wine bars, the selections here are harder to find on the market. This casual hotspot is perfect to enjoy with friends, while sharing unique bottles. For the hungry bunch, there are delectable dishes, like: braised lamb cannelloni, fennel velouté and grey shrimp. Or, indulge in delicious milk caps, bone marrow flank, watercress, and oyster emulsions.

At this pont, La Buvette has become an institution all on its own. Even if tourists have been flooding this alluring spot in recent years, Buvette’s affordable but beautiful wines and delicious snacks are reasons to keep going back.

Owner Camille Fourmont enures that the snacks menu is always well stocked with her iconic white beans, along with traditional and flavorful charcuterie. Get there early, La Buvette tends to fill up quickly!

In a district full of students in the 5th arrondissement, one might believe that it’s difficult to find natural wine bars. But Les Flacons proves us wrong. Owner Clara Bonnier – a former sommelier – shares her bottles that span from Miami Vice to earthy champagnes. All can be paired with lovely snacks: grilled cheese sandwiches, fresh razor clams, and beautiful white asparagus.
