Sweet tooth much? Here are Boston’s best hot chocolates, aka: our top five picks.
Every autumn and winter, when the leaves turn brown and the weather gets chilly, all we want is an amazing cup of hot chocolate to curl up with. We traveled all the way to there to discover Boston’s five cozy sweet spots that you can enjoy.

Voltage Coffee & Art
295 3rd Street Cambridge, MA 02142 @VoltageCoffee
“Inspired. Totally Wired” is what they say, and they’re absolutely right! Voltage is located near MIT campus, with adoringly designed interior decor, their hot chocolates come in 2 sizes (8 oz, 12 oz) and 3 fantastic flavors: Midnight Sun (cinnamon and capsicum,) Plaid Jacket (fresh peppermint,) and Besos Fuertes (ginger root.) In Boston’s freezing winters, Voltage’s inventive selections of hot chocolates are meant to inspire as you sit and sip with a great book.

Caffe Vittoria
290 Hanover Street Boston, MA 02113
Located in the Italian quarter of North End in Boston, Caffe Vittoria is the city’s oldest Italian coffee shop. During summertime, tourists and locals arrive for a taste of their wide array of gelatos. When winter rolls around, customers typically ask for their award-winning cappuccinos, with a cannoli, tiramisu or lobster-tail. There are traditional espresso machines displayed throughout the caffe to showcase its rich history within the neighborhood. We loved their rich and creamy hot chocolate that comes in sprinkles of chocolate powder.
Finale Desserterie & Bakery
1 Columbus Avenue Boston, MA 02116 @finaledesserts
With two locations in Park Plaza and Harvard Square, Finale is beyond a savory stop for hot chocolates. Its menu contains an award-winning desserts that are served its beautiful dining room. Sure you can order a glass of champagne to accompany delicious tarts, cakes and cookies. But we discovered its hot chocolate menu is a quite divine on its own: Extra Noir Chocolate (bittersweet,) Noisette Chocolate (rich hazelnut,) Ivoire Chocolate (white chocolate with a hint of orange,) Hot Chocolate Flight (tasting of all 3 signature hot chocolates,) and Chocolate Lush (with Baileys and butterscotch schnapps.) We highly recommend the Flight choice, that gets you a taste of a yummy variety!

Tatte Cookies & Cakes
318 Third St. Cambridge, MA 02446 @TatteCookies
If you’re looking for a midday break with a rustic French atmosphere, Tatte is Boston’s perfect sweet spot. Chef and owner, Tzurit Or, fell in love with baking in her mother’s kitchen. Today, Tatte bakery goods are sold throughout Boston and NYC. Fans from Europe and Hong Kong flock to Tatte for its cookies and cakes (Chef Or works with local farmers market to produce goods that are of the highest quality.) The best part about their hot chocolate is that, it accompanies well not only with sweet but any great sandwich listed on its lunch menu.

L.A. Burdick Chocolates
220 Clarendon Street Boston, MA 02116 @BurdickChocolat
Hands down, L.A. Burdick’s hot chocolate made our #1 pick! In 1984, Larry Burdick made chocolates for a few restaurants in NYC. Today, L.A. Burdick is a bonbon brand that has expanded in NYC, Boston and New Hampshire, using only the best ingredients from Switzerland, France and Venezuela. The cafe serves an assortment of chocolate drinks that can be served iced or hot. With east coast’s wintery season, although we loved their seasonal selection of hot chocolates (Peppermint and Mocha flavors,) we highly recommend their most standard hot chocolates that are available in: dark, milk and white chocolate. Shaved chocolate and coca powder are whisked into steamed milk and topped with foam and grated spice ball. They also offer single source hot chocolates that are only exclusively sold at Burdicks but contains a “Jetset Time” worldly vibe: Grenadian, Venezuelan, Dominican, Bolivian, Madagascan and Ecuadorian!
