Nashville – heart of cowboys and sassy boots.

Not gonna lie. Before heading to Nashville for my college girlfriend’s bachelorette party, I was more than a little nervous. Nashville – heart of cowboys and sassy boots. Meaning, everyone would be white or black. As I assumed there wouldn’t be any Asians in town and that I would be heavily judged simply for the color of my skin, I was also thrilled to visit the home of country music since I’ve been a huge fan for decades.
Thankfully, I couldn’t be more wrong. Flying in from Paris, our epic weekend in Nashville, or really, Nashvegas, turned into a few days of indulge-worthy southern cuisine, kick-butt dance moves and non-stop music at every street corner. Icing on the cake was the infinite southern charm exuded from locals. From street artists, restaurant staffs to that sweaty old man who asked me to dance at a bar; I was elated and relieved to discover Nashville’s open heart.
When speaking to the locals, they acknowledged the fact that Nashville has changed. For a city recognized for its country roots, the older generation are still adapting to the new Nashville – a growing metropolis now trending as a weekend destination for bachelor/bachelorette parties and a must-stop for jetsetting foodies who crave for the fusion of old and new: farm-to-table cooking in earnest southern style. The newer generation seems to welcome the city’s growth in a different attitude, they’re passionate to showcase all that Nashville has to offer to travelers like you and me.
Now, that’s #TheNewJetset. Facing your doubts or defying stereotypes so you can let loose and just have a good ol’ time. If you haven’t been to Tennessee’s electrifying capital, you might want to book a trip pronto. Or, just wait until one of your friends get hitched.
