BY AMELIA CLAY, Owner of Verão Sandals
My name is Amelia Clay. I moved to Miami for my first job after college and its been love ever since for this melting pot of a city on the beach! I personally love to travel slow, taking a few months to a year to explore a place, having the time to really immerse myself in the culture and building friendships with locals. I was chasing summer in Rio and could not find a comfortable sandal that was also chic, and I felt inspired to start Verão Sandals. The sandal company was the perfect avenue to share these fulfilling experiences on the road and connect with a community of traveling women!
Hours: Mon-Sun 12 p.m.-1 a.m.
For a fancy night out when you want to go on a date or go out with friends, Prime 112 is one of my favorite restaurants on South Beach. Serving some of the best steaks in the city, this spot is worth the Miami Beach price tag and it’s right on the beach for a walk afterward!
Hours: Sun-Thu 9 a.m.-11 p.m.; Fri-Sat 9 a.m.-12 a.m.
I love to get brunch at Oliver’s Bistro on Sunday. It’s definitely a local-only spot and you will see tons of South Beach residents having brunch with their friends and dogs! Be sure to grab a seat outside and sometimes they have a bottomless mimosa special for brunch, which is a must.
Hours: Mon-Sun 10 a.m.-1 a.m.
Segafredo is the best place to get drinks and tapas at sunset and people watch on Lincoln Road! Love this place!
For a late lunch, the Mondrian Pool is Miami’s favorite local secret! Grab lunch poolside and you can use the pool, get a towel and amenities for free. Not to mention, the amazing pool view of the surrounding bay and unbelievable sunset makes it absolutely worthwhile!
With an outdoor bar on Miami Beach pier, Monty’s is located in ultra exclusive South of Fifth. Be sure to grab dinner at the raw bar, which also has its own pool. And don’t forget to walk through the prestigious SoFi neighborhood and park afterward all the way to the most southern point of South Beach with unforgettable views of the bay.
