For those of us living the single life.

With Valentine’s Day on its way, my inbox now has an influx of Groupon and LivingSocial deals promoting romantic getaways. I’m not one to turn down a weekend trip to Napa Valley, but some destinations are definitely catered toward couples. Similarly, some travel experiences can only be had when flying solo. Therefore, for those of us living the single life, here’s a list of the top five things to do while you’re still a bachelor/ette.
1. Hostel hop in Europe
Few things are less romantic than sleeping in a room filled with 15 other people so this is a good one to check off your list while you’re still single. Hostels are quite the experience, and they’re an awesome way to meet new people and if you make the most of it, you’ll come out with some pretty great stories.
2. Road trip with friends
Across the U.S., South Africa, New Zealand… My list of my dream road trips could go on for pages! Quality time with friends, unfortunately, becomes more difficult when everyone starts to couple off. Yes, you’re probably guaranteed at least one fight about directions or where to stop for lunch, but road trips are overall guaranteed to produce breath taking pictures, awesome memories and stronger bonds between friends.

3. Hit the clubs
Whether its amidst the alternative nightlife of Berlin or the beach clubs of Barcelona, you’ll seem more approachable (for romantic and platonic potential friends) when you’re not draped over a significant other.
4. Chat up a local
Feel free to flirt shamelessly – you’ll probably never see them again (unless it goes well)! The relationship might not last a lifetime, but you could get some awesome insider tips about your vacation destination.
5. Be impulsive
There are few times in our lives when we can do exactly what we want to do at a moment’s notice. Spend an hour people watching, take a hike, hop on a train, sample every pastry in a bakery – plan ahead, but leave flexibility to follow your impulses (within reason).
