What Would Your Dream Destination Be if You Won the Lottery?

Dreaming is a big part of being human.

We dream about what we want to do, who we want to be, and where we want to go. Of the hundreds of dreams big and small which we share, perhaps no two are as common as winning the lottery and going on a dream holiday. So what if we combined those dreams?

If you had the winning lottery numbers for a huge jackpot, which travel destinations would be the first on your list? Whether 80 million richer or wherever the first division prize sits, how do you choose the make the most out of your travels, and what form does your adventure take?

Travelling is stressful, but going all-in can significantly reduce all of these related issues. Going for the upper echelon of the travelling experience means being catered for every step of the way, seeing everything without losing comfort, and running as few risks as possible.

Having expensive holidays means that you get a taste of another nation’s high-life, to see how their elite lives, and you might take some inspiration home for yourself. With the best views, the fanciest food, and softest beds, it’s not surprising this is such a popular option. Just be sure that you keep in mind the complexities which can arise with your wealth before you go.

Going Authentic

The most expensive option is the most comfortable, true, but it is hardly a recipe for the most authentic possible experience. Travelling entirely in luxury only lets you see a small fraction of the way a country or city really is, and this is inherently limiting.

Travel isn’t just about marking off sights on a ticket, it’s about growing as a person, and the best way to do that is to spend time amongst people. See how most of the population lives, and get a taste of their culture by checking out the local street food, and the popular modes of entertainment. Travel by bus or train, rather than exclusively out first-class.

There are thousands of ways which you can tone down travel, to get more by spending less. Most of all, this is the best way to ensure that you don’t end up taking your new fortune for granted. Never forget travel’s ability to ground you, so you can enjoy what you have all the more.

Something Different

With a lottery win in your wallet, chances are you can afford a level of travel which very few ever will. So why not look at the most unusual offerings around?

One of the most outrageous and promising prospects in this regard is Virgin Galactic, an upcoming service from billionaire Richard Branson. Offering suborbital flights for $250,000, this is looking to be the best, cheapest, and safest way to see the earth from the borders of space.

It’s only a short trip, but this is one which gifts visitors with a view only a handful of people have ever experienced.

Reflect and Grow

Winning a lottery is going to be a life-changing experience. The question is, exactly which form will this change take? Travel is a great way to enjoy ourselves, but it also lets us grow, which will only be aided with the removal of work-based stress and concerns.

Just thinking about how we would travel, if given the chance, shows which elements of the world we value the most. While there are no wrong and right answers, at least within reason, consider the answers as honestly as you can. You might be surprised at what you learn about yourself and, who knows, one day you might be able to make your trip for real.
