Bet your bikini-clad butt every beach has a fabulous waterfront venue to chill at.
It may be winter elsewhere but summer is sizzling up down under in Sydney! Everybody knows Sydney is all about sparkling sunny beaches to die for. Lots of beaches also means lots of amazing options where you can eat and drink by the water! You can bet your bikini-clad butt that every beach, harbour and wharf in Sydney has a fabulous waterfront venue to chill at.
Here are our favorite beachside hangouts where you can find us this summer!
Maybe Frank at Beach Road Hotel
The popular pizzeria in Surry Hills, Maybe Frank, has a pop-up happening in Bondi Beach this summer. You can find gourmet pizzas, Aperol spritz and negronis at Beach Road Hotel in Bondi every Wednesday to Sunday. Order among mouthwatering gourmet options like Tartufo with Poricini mushrooms, grana and truffle oil. Or my personal fave, the Alba, featuring Italian sausage, pecorino, tomatoes and truffle (yum!). Beach Road Hotel’s funky and colorful terrace is exactly where you want to end up to gobble up a pizza after a day in the waves. Be sure to catch this fun gourmet pop-up in Bondi before the summer ends!
If there was a universally loved beachside hangout in Sydney, it would be Coogee Pavilion. Coogee Pavilion is stacked with multiple bars, restaurants, terrace and rooftop, all decked out with beachy boho-chic design and good vibes. Obviously, everybody’s favorite spot is the rooftop bar where you can sip on tropical cocktails while overlooking the turquoise waves of Coogee Beach. There’s tons of space that can accommodate every size of group hangout, as the venue clearly aims to bring together people and great ocean views. For times when you want to go big on a beachy extravaganza with all your friends, Coogee Pavilion is always there for you.
Foy’s at the Sydney Flying Squadron
I stumbled upon Foy’s in Kirribilli purely by accident and luck. Hidden inside the Sydney Flying Squadron, Australia’s oldest open boat sailing club, Foy’s may just be the best kept secret in North Sydney.
Foy’s is a light airy restaurant with pretty views of the glassy waters and classy yachts of Kirribilli. It’s the perfect option for when you want a quality meal by the water without being too upscale or fussy. On the menu you’ll find well-prepared seaside classics like Fish and Chips, burgers and rump steak, with more gourmet options like Spannercrab Spaghettini and a 300g Scotch Fillet. If you’re lucky enough to get a seat outside on the deck, you’ll be able to enjoy a drink while overlooking the most precious harbor views in Sydney. Kirribilli is always sparkling and lovely, and Foy’s the perfect place to enjoy the area’s atmosphere and views!
The Boathouse Shelly Beach
Manly Beach may be everyone’s go-to when visiting Manly, but Shelly Beach is a much quieter and charming alternative. The Boathouse restaurant and bar at Shelly Beach gives you even more of a reason to venture just a bit further down the shore for a bright, lively hangout.
The Boathouse is incredibly family-friendly with a terrace right on the beach so that kiddies can run wild in the sand while the adults supervise with a cold drink in hand. The menu is the perfect selection of fresh, light bites to enjoy by the water like Bircher Muesli or Green Bowls for breakfast and Ceviche, Beetroot Salad and Grilled Barramundi for lunch. And of course the fabulous drinks alone are enough to draw you down to the beach. The Boathouse has all of your favorite chilled beers and wines as well as impeccable cocktails like Rhubarb Margaritas and Passionfruit Pavlovas. The Boathouse on Shelly Beach is just waiting for your next day in the sun with your family and friends.
Beach Club at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel
Watsons Bay is the beautiful upscale neighborhood at the tip of Sydney’s south head and if you go, the Beach Club is the place to be. Located inside Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, Beach Club is where beautiful people go to pop champagne and have oysters. The al fresco terrace and restaurant is white, airy and beautiful; definitely one of the most chic waterfront venues in the city. The Beach Club menu has a large and exciting offering of seafood platters, artisan pasta, sushi boats and classic gourmet pub food. Plus it’s hard to beat the picture perfect view of the glittery shore with the Sydney skyline and Harbour Bridge. For a swanky, chic time by the sea, head to the Beach Club at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.
