Why The Westin Is So Much More Than A Smoothie And Spa

You’ll fall in love at The Westin: U.S.V.I’s best kept secret is this hotel in love city.

With a year round temperature of 85 degrees, beaches with turquoise water as far as the eye can see, and some of the most breathtaking sea creatures in the world such as turtles coming up for air, St. John in the United States Virgin Islands is pure paradise you definitely cannot fit in the palm of your sandy hand. Well, at least, it’s paradise just a ferry away… Or maybe, a click away… If you could only find a hotel to stay at… Hmm…

The Westin.

A resort on the island of St. John with villas, hotel rooms, time shares, and so much more. The Westin has more than 223 hotels across the world while miraculously holding a unique vibe in every location, state, and country. Every Westin is decorated differently depending on which one you choose to stay in, which makes each Westin able to capture culture and its people beautifully.

My family has visited the Westin since I was very young, and no other hotel chain has impacted me this positively and to this extent. We have met some of the most caring, genuine, funny, and hardworking people who work and vacation at the Westin all across the world. From Westins in Times Square to Arizona to South Carolina and all around the globe, the Westin always offers luxury, comfort, and memories unlike any other.

After the Westin got hit by the hurricanes Irma and Maria two years ago, the damage to the island seemed unbearable at first. Donations were made and government plans put into place to get the island back up and running to reach its former glory. But my family realized when visiting this past summer that the island still has that glory, even in its process of being rebuilt. People’s spirits are stronger than ever because not even a hurricane can knock down the islanders.

They are that resilient. They fight for what they love in Love City.

One of the ways you can support the island is to visit! The Westin is the number one hotel/resort I recommend on St. John with its many amenities, discounts, incredible food, and limitless services offered to guests.

Here are just some of the things the Westin offers:

  • Complimentary on-site parking
  • Complimentary Wireless wifi
  • Daily housekeeping
  • Air-conditioning; TV; pull-out sofa bed; washer/dryer
  • Full kitchens in the suites
  • Coffee/tea in room
  • 252 rooms on floors up to three stories
  • Mango Deli: Great to pick up sandwiches before heading to the beach for the day! Also fresh pizzas, salads, and beverages
  • Gift Shop (also has sunscreen, pool toys, hats, water bottles, etc.)
  • Snorkels (Bar & Grill): Eat here with the sound of laugher as kids play in the sand and the waves crash in the distance. Snorkels is great for sandwiches, salads, fries, and smoothies. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Workout Gym: My sister and I would go here at night to have it all to ourselves. Has a weight room, treadmills, ellipticals, a water refilling station, dumbbells; the list goes on!
  • Spa: This is attached to the workout gym, and you can book things from a massage to a facial to an essential oil treatment. A great gift for your significant other!

The Quarter-Acre Pool:

My family has some of the best memories here. It’s great to sit by the pool and read a book or drink a Bushwacker (the famous nutmeg drink on the island!). A waterfall is included in the pool, and there are ledges to sit on so you can dangle your feet in the water. You can even go the beach with chairs in the sand a couple feet away or rent a cabana by the pool for some more privacy or internet access.

The Westin offers incredible deals for beach weddings as well. We’ve witnessed many weddings over the years we spotted in the distance and they all looked so beautiful (with the most gorgeous weather!).

The first time we visited the Westin was for my dad’s work conference; if you’re in charge of a business and would like a destination for a conference, the St. John Westin is the one to book.

Activities to do at the Westin at the beach (or a boat may take you out farther in the ocean):

  1. Boating
  2. Kayaking
  3. Sailing
  4. Scuba Diving
  5. Snorkeling
  6. Paddle boarding

One of the most luxurious things the Westin offers are Catamaran day trips with champagne and a sunset. Can you get any better than that?

Overall, the hotel feels like you’re at home while still offering the getaway of a lifetime in a space that is elevated and sophisticated but fun and family-friendly.

After hours of snorkeling and relaxing with family or friends at the beach, you’ll always be able to sit back in comfort when you head back to your room. Each room is spacious; you never feel like you’re cramped or without a necessity. Westins are known for their Heavenly Beds, where you’ll drift off in no time and wake up ready to begin a beautiful day with the people you love.

So, are you ready to kick your feet up, hold a drink in one hand, put your shades on, and not have a care in the world? Ready for your time off from work and to just relax?

Head to the Westin for sandy smiles that seem to never fade and memories that you’ll talk about twenty years in the future. That photo in your house will be from the Westin, as you’re surrounded by friends and family with saltwater grins ear to ear.
