Portland’s Voodoo Doughnuts Pays Tribute To Charles Manson, BUT…

…Folks aren’t having it.

The must-stop destination for any foodie with a sweet tooth in Portland, Oregon just made a PR blunder by paying tribute to the death of Charles Manson.

Possibly the most famous doughnut shop in the world, Voodoo Doughnut is typically known its creative creations. But on the eve of death of America’s most notorious serial killer, Voodoo posted a Twitter photo of a tribute doughnut it had made. Bad idea.

After receiving instant negative responses on Twitter, Voodoo Doughnut took down the photo. Many viewed the post as honoring the murderer who was found guilty for the death of seven people, including actress Sharon Tate, all of which were carried out at his instruction by members of the so-called Manson Family cult. Manson was also convicted of first-degree murder for two other deaths.

In the past, Voodoo Doughnut’s tribute doughnuts have been extremely popular especially on social media, including: Prince, and David Bowie.

But not this time, the Manson doughnut seemed to have left us with toothaches while scratching our heads.
