Gariful is probably one of the most expensive restaurants in Hvar, but it’s well worth it for its fantastic seafood, and posh waterfront setting on the terrace. The luxurious menu includes Catch of the Day in the utmost premium quality and grilled or boiled lobster presented in the most stunning fashion that will leave your mouth water and stomach completely satiated. The small family-run business has an exclusive reputation that draws celebrities and VIPs arriving from around the world. Demi Moore, Prince Harry, Giorgio Armani have all dined here. Owner Ivan exclusively told Jetset Times that he can’t stop. The father of two carries an undying passion for continuing his family business that drives his enthusiasm to burst throughout Gariful’s exciting energy. The meal won’t come cheap but it’s well worth every penny for fresh and luscious servings consumed in a swanky ambiance.
Dalmatino is so charming that it’ll melt your heart. Another family-run business, the restaurant is located in the house where owner Denise (and his brother) grew up. As he exclusively explained to Jetset Times that many recipes actually derived from his grandmother’s kitchen. Both a seafood and a steak house, Dalmatino reinterprets traditional Croatian dishes (in this case, delectable seafood with Italian flair,) into refined plates of exquisite goodness. Definitely start with a tuna tartare, and the zucchini starter that will leave any zucchini hater fall in love with the green vegetable. Any dish with black truffle here is also highly recommended, especially on a perfectly cooked steak. Pair your meal with glasses of the famous “Hvarski Plavac” wine, your food experience in midst of a hidden alley will surely be a trip’s highlight.
Giaxa is another very posh scene situated in Hvar’s alluring passageways. Manager Ivona helps her father oversee the restaurant and explains to Jetset Times her respect for local culture as well as maintaining Giaxa’s sophisticated standards. Some must-eat dishes include: Grilled Octopus with Crispy Salads, Beef Carpaccio with Black Truffles and Parmigiano, and Dalmatian Brodeto (fish stew.) The food is incredibly natural and perfectly timed. There are three choices of seating: a 15th century Venetian noble’s family palace in Late Gothic style in the interior, outdoor terrace in the courtyard, or in midst of old walls in the romantic pathway.
Craving for Californian-Mexican flavors after all that traveling in Europe? Fig will take good care of you. The cafe is on the smaller side, but delivers a hearty burrito that’ll take you straight to West Coast of the U.S. Check out: Chipotle Chicken and Avocado Tacos, and its breakfast is all the rage. Owner Geoff wanted to create something that sets itself apart from other Dalmatian restaurants on the island. Today, Fig attracts both the hostel crowd and chic jetsetters who want something tasty yet casual.
