The Best Places To Eat In Toulouse, France

BY YOHAN LOFAN, Founder of Yikes

Yohan Lofan

My name is Yohan Lafon. I am now based in Toulouse after a few years working and traveling around the world. I spent three years in India, in Bangalore and Pune where I worked for the French Embassy and for a start up that specialized in the food and beverage industry. After that I joined Airbus where I joined the commercial department in Toulouse for selling aircraft and in Munich for helicopters. I really enjoyed living abroad because I had the chance to discover many different cultures and I had the chance to travel a lot during all those years. Now back in Toulouse, I have launched with four other associates our brand Yikes, which proudly produces unconventional ties to unconventional people. Here are my top five restaurants you must try in Toulouse, France!

1. The Dispensary

1 Rue Marthe Varsi, 31300 Toulouse, France (map, website)

Hours: Tue-Wed 2 p.m.-12:30 a.m.; Thu-Fri 2 p.m.-2 a.m.; Saturday 12 p.m.-3 a.m.; Sunday 12 p.m.-12 a.m.

Call: +33 5 61 42 00 88

I love The Dispensary because it is a very trendy pub which hosts concerts, cultural events, and amazing homemade burgers. The best vegetarian burger in Toulouse is served right here! As a vegetarian, I highly recommend this place.

2. Michel Sarran

21 Boulevard Armand Duportal, 31000 Toulouse, France (map, website)

Hours: Mon-Tue & Thu-Fri 12 p.m.-1:45 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.-9:45 p.m.; Wednesday 8:30 p.m.-9:45 p.m.

Michel Sarran is definitely the best chef in Toulouse. (He’s very famous for participating in a TV show in France). As an amazing restaurant known for serving authentic “Toulousan” cuisine, food lovers will certainly appreciate the three-star rating of this famous Michelin restaurant. Though it’s quite expensive, you have to dine here at least once in your life if you come to Toulouse. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.

3. Vasco Le Gamma

1 Place de l’Estrapade, 31300 Toulouse, France (map, website)

Hours: Mon-Sun 5 p.m.-2 a.m.

Call: +33 5 61 50 68 11

I love Vasco Le Gamma because they serve very simple and good Spanish tapas, which is amazing so you can enjoy a bunch of beers in a casual way. It’s very nice to come here after work with friends and colleagues, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

4. Le Pois Gourmand

3 Rue Emile Heybrard, 31300 Toulouse, France (map, website)

Hours: Mon-Sat 12 p.m.-1;30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.; Sunday 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

Le Pois Gourmand is a beautiful and lovely place close to the river where you can invite your lover for a romantic evening. The views are amazing and their menu is just delicious. It’s an absolute must-do while in the city.

5. Rajpoot

37 Avenue du Parc, 31700 Blagnac, France (map, website)

Hours: Mon-Fri 12 p.m.-2:30 p.m. & 7 p.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday 7 p.m.-10 p.m.

Call: +33 5 34 39 21 15

After three years in India, I always go once a month to Rajpoot, which, in my opinion, is the best Indian restaurant in the city. When I begin missing the colors, smells and tastes of my Indian cooking souvenirs, I always book a table there with some colleagues, friends or my girlfriend.
