Don’t Have All Day? 4 NYC On-The-Go Bites You’ll Love

Grab a snack or meal that’s quick and portable.

With all the hustle and bustle of New York City, sometimes it’s nice to have a quite, sit down meal. Yet more often than not, whether you are a NYC native or a tourist, you’ll need to spend as much time as possible out exploring or running errands. That’s where the on-the-go meal comes in. We’ve listed our top four favorite places in the city to grab a snack or meal that’s quick and portable so you can continue about your busy day.

Spaghetti Incident (Lower East Side)

There aren’t many ways to make a classic pasta dish better, yet Spaghetti Incident does…by making it portable. This little italian restaurant serves a number of pasta dishes in a cone that’s convenient for a non-spill jaunt around the Big Apple. If anything, the cone-shaped vessel makes it easier to eat the perfectly cooked noodles than if you we’re eating it off a plate. And the updated manoeuvrability doesn’t mean that the pasta itself lacks in the sauce department. If anything, the ratio of pasta to sauce ends up being on that perfect border of almost too saucy. You’ll definitely be coming back for more.

What to get: If you want something creamy go for the Bucatini Trevigiana, if you like red sauce the Pappardelle Lamb Ragu.

The Nugget Spot (East Village)

No matter who you are or what age you are, everyone loves chicken nuggets. One of the best places in the city to devour them is The Nugget Spot located down on 14th street. You’ll find, tender and well seasoned meat in a variety of flavors. And for all you vegans and vegetarians out there, they offer vegan options of many of their menu items. There’s a definite urban hip hop vibe going on, and seating can get pretty cramped so it’s the perfect on-the-go bite. They offer rotating specials so if that isn’t an incentive to visit regularly then we don’t know what is.

What to get: The Cap’n Crunk nuggets, coated in cap’n crunch cereal and doused in their “crunk sauce.”

Pommes Frites (Greenwich Village)

If you want to be transported to Belgium and eat some killer fries in the process, then head on over to Pommes Frites. The thick cut fries are fried until they turn the most beautiful golden brown color and have a nice crispy exterior. But to top it all off (literally) they offer over 30 different sauces so you can jazz them up however you like. The fries come in cones so it’s the perfect portable snack, which is good because it’s so popular there’s hardly ever seating. It’s so with it though and you’ll want to come back again and again.

What to get: Fries covered in their TLC sauce (aka: Tequila, Lime, Chipotle).

Avocado Appétit (Lower East Side)

If the word “avocado” brings you Millennial-like joy, then Avocado Appétit is the place for you. Everything on the menu has some form of avocado inside or on top of it. And we’re not just talking avocado toast. They have avocado pancakes, avocado ice cream, and even avocado fries. The slices of avocado are battered and fried to crisp perfection on the outside, while leaving the creamy avocado warm and snuggly on the inside. They’re perfect for munching on while exploring the city, or even if you’re in a rush. The whole place is decked out in green, with avocado-based plush toys everywhere. It’s both an instagramers heaven and an avocado lovers dream.
