Dashing Jewelry Pieces That Caught Our Eye This Spring

Even though we are spending most of our time locked up in our homes and working online, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some good jewelry. That might be exactly what we need to boost our morale and to make us feel chic and beautiful.

During the online work meetings and friends’ get-togethers, why not put on a great piece of jewelry that will make your look pop even if you might be wearing a pajama bottom that no one can see. Nothing can make you look dressed up quicker than jewelry.

Pearls

The pearl trend has been going strong for a while now, and it has no intention of stopping. We’ve witnessed the rebirth of pearl jewelry a few seasons ago when it introduced such a variety of shapes and colors to previously dull, white, perfect-shaped pearls we were used to seeing on grandmas and in old movies. Size also changed to bigger and bolder.

Interesting pieces emerged from famous fashion and jewelry houses, and they still keep pouring out. All sizes, colors, and shapes of pearls are used to make jewelry but also accessories and even clothing pieces.

From a layered black pearl necklace to oversized, mismatched or single pearl earrings, to pearl-embellished headbands, bags and clothes, there’s nothing that can’t be adorned with pearls. Designers keep finding new ways to use them, so we’ll continue to see pearls in many more seasons to come.

Chunky Chains

Chains have also been popular for a while, and continue to be so. They are, like pearls, having a revival, going bigger and heavier, and more artistic. Chain jewelry has such versatility when it comes to styling. It’s easy to combine it with high fashion or business attire, as well as with street style and everyday clothes.

Big metal chain chokers and bracelets are popular, as statement pieces, and are getting even bigger. Fashion houses like Chanel, Hermès, Gucci, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton are among many that embraced this trend, making big gold and silver chains.

Especially noticeable are Victoria Beckhams big gold chain with a huge link dangling from the middle of the necklace and the Givenchy crystal-encrusted chain choker. Also popular are the pieces that are a combination of metal chains and pearls, crystals, and recently padlocks as pendants.

Colorful Beads

This is what we all need, a splash of color in our lives, to shake us up a bit. Beads in all colors, sizes, and in combination with other materials are a very popular choice for many people. They give us a certain feeling of nostalgia, youthfulness and remind us of a relaxing vacation that all of us would like to be on, but can’t at the moment.

Designer runways are packed full of multicolored beads and neon colors left and right. Layering the beads in strands of different lengths gives off hippie vibes. Adding a pendant or a charm on colorful strands fits in with the boho style that so many girls love.

Versace’s Medusa black and white beaded necklace and bracelet with golden charms are looking great both solo and in combination with other beads. But if you’re looking for more colors there’s Jason Wu’s beaded beach necklace and multilayered colorful Etro necklaces, and let’s not forget Dior’s romantic pearl, gold, and blue beaded bracelet with a red heart as a charm.

Sea Inspired Jewelry

In case the colorful beads weren’t enough sea-like to you, the designers, dreaming of the sea themselves, got an idea. Inspired by the sea creatures they’ve created many pendants, earrings, brooches, and charms. Shells, fishes and fishbones, starfishes, and again – pearls could be seen all over fashion runways.

Versace dedicated their Trésor de la Mer line of jewelry to starfish. Golden earrings, necklace, choker, bracelet, and brooches, encrusted with colorful crystals all look like they belong on a yacht or an expensive beach club.

But for a more down-to-earth style, there are, for example, Dior’s coffee bean shells necklace, and red coral beads with a pearl choker. Or perhaps Isabel Marant’s long gold chains with shells as pendants for those who prefer longer necklaces.

Jewelry Shaped Like Other Fashion Accessories

Miniature bags, both real miniature versions, and metal shaped like a bag, were seen on runways, worn as necklaces and bracelets. Boot-shaped pendants have been seen too, as well as some other unusual accessories.

Let’s just say that designers wanted to play a little with miniature pendants and charms, and now we have a wide variety of pieces to choose from. If you have a whimsical side and would like to express it through jewelry, surely you’d love some of these.

Most noticeable is the micro bag by Chanel, a jewelry version of their actual 2.55 bag. It was revealed during fashion week in Paris as part of their Spring/Summer 2021 collection. The miniature bag was hanging from a chain and leather strap like a necklace, but also like a belt around the waist. They even hung one from a heavy golden cuff bracelet, with pearls on the handle.

Ear and Arm Cuffs

Both ear and arm cuffs have that artistic and edgy look. They are an excellent statement piece but are also a bit on the heavy side since they’re made of metal. Let’s hope that your ears and arms can take it.

Prada created subtle triangle ear cuffs with only their logo on them. But unlike Prada, others love the idea of making an oversized ear cuff more. Take for example Thierry Mugler’s giant nickeled ear cuff.

As for arm cuffs, they go great with all kinds of clothes styles, making “the look” more sophisticated or punk-like, depending on the design of the bracelet. Gold and silver metals are the most popular choice in making the cuffs, with a shiny finish and sculptured surface texture. Chloé’s ruffled metal cuffs and Chanel’s golden cuffs with a micro bag attached are some of the most noticeable pieces.

From colorful, shapely pearls, to beads and charms, to the big chains and cuffs, there’s plenty to choose from to lift up your spirits for spring of 2021. No matter what you wear some of these designs will suit you, so since there’s nothing better to do anyway, you might as well play around with it.

No matter what the trend is this spring, you’ll of course choose something that you feel comfortable with. Try discovering your own preference, maybe mix some of the styles together, play around and it might create something unique, something that is undoubtedly you.
