The iconic Croatian footwear brand celebrates their 50th anniversary this year. The company was established in Vukovar in eastern Croatia, and were made for working class women. The very first versions was in white, blue and black. They were made especially for women working in the medical field. The work ethic supporting Croatian females has always been clear in its marketing slogan:

With 1 million pairs of Borosanas sold every year, these shoes are so popular due to its orthopedic design. When you see them in shops today, the open-toe heeled canvas come in various patterns and colors.
Because of its fun and vibrant patterns, Borosanas’ appeal has extended all the way to Japan. To celebrate its 50th birthday, the shoe brand has unveiled five new models. Each pair costs around 249 HRK (USD $40.) The next time you spot a pair in a local Croatian shop, why not bring home a fun pair!
