Best cities for gaming

Las Vegas, United States

One place that immediately springs to mind whenever gaming is mentioned is Las Vegas. This place might be in the middle of the desert but there’s certainly a lot going on.

Las Vegas is world renowned when it comes to gaming and it is home to some of the most famous casinos. You’ve got Caesar’s Palace which has been mentioned in countless films and TV shows.

There’s the Bellagio with its infamous fountains outside – definitely something worth sticking around for either before or after your visit. And there are countless other casinos to choose from along the strip.

The entertainment doesn’t begin and end with the casinos either. There are countless shows you can watch in between gaming sessions. There are even some stages that have been built inside the casinos so you don’t have to leave! It’s the gaming capital of the world, and is not one to be missed.

Oslo, Norway

Oslo might be a bit of a curveball on this list, but trust us when we say it’s one of the best cities to go to for gaming. One of the best things about it is that it’s currently flying a little under the radar so it’s not rammed with other gaming tourists.

There are countless gaming bars to visit in Oslo as well as Tilt Oslo which is a huge, multi level gaming centre. It’s packed to the brim with all the arcade games you could want to play as well as a whole floor dedicated to retro games.

It’s a haven for games of all kinds – just don’t forget to pack your winter woolies!

Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich is another unexpected city to see on the list – but it’s definitely worth a visit. Switzerland might be famous for sitting on the fence, but it definitely has a strong stance in the gaming world.

The best time to visit is in September as this is when all the gaming themed events are happening. Zurich Pop Con is held every year and there is everything from cosplay to game unveilings going on. If you’re looking for the next best game to play, Zurich is where you’ll find it.

Cologne, Germany

If you’re into Esports in a big way, you can find your people in Cologne. This city in northern Germany isn’t huge but it’s home to some of the biggest Esports tournaments. The IEM Cologne in 2023 saw its biggest crowds yet as everyone watched G2 Esports be crowned the champions.

You can’t be into Esports and not visit Cologne, it truly is the next big thing in the gaming world. You wouldn’t want to miss out!

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is the inventor of Esports so it’s another place to add to your list if you’re a fan. The biggest Esports arena to visit is the League of Legends. It’s owned by Riot Games, one of the biggest gaming companies in the world, so you know it’s going to deliver.

Seoul is also home to the MMO industry or Massive Multiplayer Online market, so you can only expect the best from this city. When you visit, the main area you’ll find all things game related is Seongnam. It is the perfect mix of historical culture and modern day gaming. You won’t need to go anywhere else!

Tokyo, Japan

Japan is known for being technologically advanced when it comes to gaming so it’s no surprise that it’s one of the top places for gamers to visit. You can see examples of this everywhere, but particularly in Akihabara Electric Town.

Akihabara Electric Town is home to a plethora of anime, manga and gaming memorabilia. There are streets upon streets of gaming to get involved with. From the retro games at Super Potato to the club nights at Club Mogra, there’s something for every gaming fan here.
