Start your year by being kind.

As they say in Love Actually, “love actually is all around.” Prove it this holiday season by doing a few random acts of kindness. Even small tokens of generosity given to others are shown to increase our own happiness, so why wouldn’t we indulge in the start of this year?

1. Let someone go in front of you in line at the airport, just because.

2. Offer the person next to you on your flight a piece of gum, or really spread holiday spirit and buy them a drink.

3. Pay someone’s parking meter when you notice it’s almost out of time.

4. When someone’s child is screaming uncontrollably on your flight, smile at the mother understandingly. Crack a joke if it seems appropriate. Traveling with children is harder than you think.

5. Pay the toll of the person behind you.

6. Buy someone on the street a sandwich or hot chocolate.

7. Offer to help carry someone’s suitcase up or down the stairs at the airport.

8. Give your significant other the window seat without mentally bookmarking it for next time.

9. Let a stranger rest their head on your shoulder.

10. Carry singles in your pockets so that if someone asks for change, you’re ready. Don’t forget to say Happy Holidays.
