Meet Charity, from Orlando, Florida, who at 25, felt lost. Presented with the opportunity to move to London for 6 months in a work exchange program, she jumped at the chance and was instantly hooked to the adrenaline of moving life to another country. She did it again a year later, heading to New Zealand. Meet Amauri, who was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and at 12, moved to the US. With parents as missionaries, travel has always been an important part of his life. They’re @MarriedNomads

Unbeknownst to each other at the time, Charity and Amauri went to the same high school. When they finally met at a party, they ended going their separate ways, with Charity in New Zealand and Amauri in China, coaching a girls’ soccer team. While overseas, the two reconnected and chatted on Skype almost every day. Fast forward six months, and the pair shared a first date at an airport in South Korea without a phone or solid plan. “Meet me at 11 in the Seoul airport” was their only exchange, setting the precedent for the couples’ spontaneity. Connecting immediately, the couple had an amazing trip through South Korea and China.

By the time they returned to the US, Amauri had already bought a ticket to South Africa for the World Cup. Without hesitation, he sold his car to pay for the trip, and that’s when the two knew they were a perfect match. Preferring their lives to fit in a suitcase and their money spent on travel, they love to say yes to adventure, with details to be figured out later.

The couple soon got married, quitting their jobs to spend a year traveling the globe for their honeymoon. Having been to over a dozen countries, their favorite destinations include Bali, New Zealand and Portugal. They also love Asia, where they faced their first travel challenge, surrounded by poverty that changed their whole life philosophy. Coming back more compassionate, less selfish, and motivated to become better people, the couples’ 2015 goals include a month thoroughly exploring Southeast Asia.

And though they would love to start a family in the next years, they are accepting of the fact that they won’t know where they’ll be and this, to them, is the most exciting part. When asked why they chose a life of travel, “it’s because we don’t want to live life with regrets.” Wanting to live a life that “feels authentic, that feels chosen and not just a default. We want to become the best versions of ourselves.” While their lifestyle poses unique challenges, the two jump on every opportunity and try to seize each day, while appreciating what they have.

On Instagram, the couple shares their different photography styles. Charity loves vibrancy, Amauri black and white. While she’s fascinated by details, he prefers a broader perspective. Together they try to find interesting or fascinating perspective to travelers, hoping followers will say “I want to be there.” Their favorite pictures are those where one of them can envision him or herself in that moment, either triggering a lost memory or appealing to their wanderlust. And they are very much succeeding. Follow them at @MarriedNomads to share their journey together!
