Where Was Apple TV’s “Ghosted” Filmed?

Swipe right in Washington D.C. and Atlanta to explore the world of “Ghosted.”

Local bee farmer Cole (Chris Evans) is stung by the love bug when he meets the enigmatic Sadie (Ana de Armas.) After one date, Cole is planning their future while Sadie is planning her escape. Cole soon realizes why Sadie attempts to ghost him; she is a CIA agent known as “The Taxman” with contract killers watching her every move. Follow the lovebirds across the country, rushing through Washington and Georgia and more as they learn what it really means to be ghosts.

SPOILER WARNING!

Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

In lieu of losing another shot with a beautiful girl, Cole chases Sadie down to ask her on a date. She is hesitant at first, but accepts as long as the date happens today. Cole agrees and jumps in her car as the two drive off. May I remind you the two met less than 20 minutes ago and are already driving away. Now, if it were me in Cole’s position and I was this close to downtown Atlanta, I would have suggested The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre for a first date. This theater happens to be the very one they drive away from. The Strand is not open to the public on weekdays unless there is a show happening, which seems to be frequent from the audition schedule. Unlike for Cole and Sadie, it is guaranteed to be a great time for all involved.

The Lincoln Book Tower at Ford’s Theatre

The pair does journey to a theater-adjacent date eventually; The Lincoln Book Tower is inside The Ford Theatre Center For Education and Leadership. Located in Washington D.C., The Ford Theatre, aka: Ford’s Theatre is a historic landmark. If you are a history buff, as Cole claims to be, the name is all too familiar as the theater in which Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of The United States was assassinated.

Built in 1863, Ford’s Theatre was frequented by Lincoln for those two years and by many in the aftermath. Today, so much of its history is intertwined by tragedy that there are plays about April 14th and its events. It seems as though Cole was just as fascinated with Sadie’s past as Ford’s theater is with its own. Although visitors can learn more than just about Lincoln with this tower, its structure is perhaps the most interesting.

The Exorcist Steps

Next on this historic date: The Exorcist Steps. These 75 steps are from the hit 1973 film, The Exorcist. The two race up to the top and face Cole’s other fear: his asthma. Having his inhaler stashed in Sadie’s bag turns the relationship sour after he uses the tracker inside it to find her. Located in Georgetown, these stairs provided many a pathway a hundred years before the famed film, and for movie fanatics the tour doesn’t end there. “Though the exterior window was built for the film, the MacNeil’s house at 3600 Prospect Street sits right next to the stairs, looking nearly just as it did in the iconic film. While it is a private residence, the homeowners are very welcoming of fans taking photos next to the gate, trying their best to recreate the iconic poster.”

National Gallery of Art

The couple dives more into Sadie’s cover when visiting the National Gallery of Art in D.C. The admission is always free and the two roam throughout Atrium Hall pictured above. Thank God Cole did not ask a single question about the “150,000 sculptures, decorative arts, prints, drawings, photographs, and paintings in the National Gallery’s permanent collection,” because her knowledge would have truly been tested.

Recreation Pier at The Wharf

Recreation Pier at The Wharf ends the day portion of the lovebirds seemingly continuous date. Sadie, if she has not already convinced Cole that love at first sight does exist, she surely has when the two share a kiss. Recreation Pier at The Wharf was built in 1910 and has most likely hosted plenty of first kisses. None of which have quite the effect as Sadie’s, as immediately following this interaction, the two spend the rest of the night together and the few weeks without her turn Cole into a full-blown stalker.

Shad Thames

How far is Cole willing to go for a girl he met a month before? London, apparently. After Sadie left him without a word, Cole waits for her to respond to the 12 texts he sends. When she doesn’t, travel-phobic Cole decides to follow her to London using the aforementioned tracker within his inhaler. The location leads him to an alleyway near The Vault 1894 in the heart of downtown London on the Shad Thames. The Vault 1894 is a hidden cocktail bar located under the famous Tower Bridge. Cole doesn’t see the inside or his inhaler again as he is promptly kidnapped and tortured. His captors have mistakenly identified Cole as the elusive “Taxman” foiling their plans for a biochemical weapon. This forces Sadie to act and the real adventure to finally begin.

Socotra Island

Socotra Island within the Arabian Sea becomes a safe haven for Cole and Sadie after escaping the multitude of killers hunting them (including Chris’ MCU co-stars, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie.) The island itself is abandoned so it is the perfect area for them to regroup, recharge and wait for the CIA backup to arrive. It is here that Sadie learns how resourceful her civilian is, when he patches her bullet hole using plants from around the island, saving her life. While the movie did not film on Socotra Island, it is within Yemen and is open for the occasional human visitor.

Porsche Experience Center Atlanta

Porsche Experience Center Atlanta features in yet another spy thriller as CIA Headquarters. Supposedly labeled as “top secret” it is surprising how secure the headquarters are, given its appeared now as Avengers Tower and Netflix’s Night Agent as belonging to the CIA. The Porsche Experience Center Atlanta is described as “an incredible facility which contains everything from our state-of-the-art business center to our Heritage Gallery.”  The PEC stands in as headquarters for the North American branch of Porsches so it’s not unrealistic that it would hold all the governments best kept secrets. After their rescue from the island, Cole and Sadie have a fight about lying while hooked up to a polygraph when Cole is debriefed and recruited to the CIA, which he only does because the villain threatens his family.

Atlanta Marriott Marquis

Atlanta Marriott Marquis in the city’s downtown stands in for the fictional Capital Heights Hotel in Washington. This location hosts the epic battle for the biochemical weapon and a love confession in the form of a rescue from Sadie. This chic hotel doesn’t spin as shown in the film nor does it host hitmen or Ryan Reynolds, but one still can have a fabulous time within these luxurious rooms and amenities.

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts ends the film the way it started: with a date. Three months after their confrontation at Atlanta Marriott Marquis, the couple is still going strong. The Kennedy Center located in Washington has plenty of opportunities for dates including, musicals, ballets and so much more, including its own honor ceremony for those in the arts. Built as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, this venue holds not only history but sense of national culture you must experience to believe.
