How Lily Collins Did PFW & Dipped In Nostalgia At Hôtel de Crillon

Remember when you were a teenager, and the back of a parking lot was considered a place filled with special memories. When you’re Lily Collins, however, the back of a parking lot was more like Paris’ Hôtel de Crillon.

Reopened this summer after a 4-year renovation shut down, Hôtel de Crillon was where the British-American actress made her societal debut when she was 18 years old. If you’ve seen it on MTV’s The Hills (remember when LC tempers with her Crillon ball gown?), then you know all about Crillon Ball, aka: le Bal des Débutantes. It’s also a fashion event held annually in November that brings together 20–25 girls aged 16 to 22 from about a dozen countries. Collins is not the only past debutantes with a famous last name, the exclusive club also includes: Lauren Bush Lauren, Dree Hemingway, and Talulah Willis.

After the hotel’s recent reopening, Collins stopped by for a walk down memory lane. She told W Magazine

The hotel reopened after a four-year renovation this summer, and Collins stopped in to visit.

“I was walking in and saying to my friends, ‘That’s where I was presented, that’s where I walked down the stairs, that’s where I got stuck in the elevator with my dress. It’s such a special place. Time goes by so fast; I feel really lucky to be back here.”

After a bit of nostalgia at Hôtel de Crillon, Collins sat front row seat at the Givenchy’s Spring 2018 collection at Palais de Justice. The event was groundbreaking since the 19th-century building had never been used for a fashion show before. Collins sat alongside Hollywood A-listers including: Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett, and Rooney Mara.

This time in Paris, Collins didn’t stay at Crillon but opted for Hôtel Le Bristol near Champs-Élysées. You may recognize the hotel if you love the movie Midnight in Paris, since that’s where Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams’ characters stayed in the film.

Just like the rest of us, Collins is moved by the magic of the Eiffel Tower. As she exclaimed:

“We get out, and watch it sparkle, and I just like to stand there, looking at it. It’s so special and so beautiful. Paris is such a magical place.”
