Carmelo Anthony, NBA player for the Oklahoma City Thunder, has recently made hefty investments in Nobody’s Pizza and the Ainsworth, two popular NYC restaurants.
Nobody’s Pizza is an Italian restaurant situated in South Bronx, while the Ainsworth is an upscale sports bar
Carmelo’s $5 million investment in the businesses is to help them expand into 20 to 30 across the country. Most of the locations will be near sports stadiums to get maximum traffic impact. The deal is with Keith Rubenstein, a real estate developer.
The Ainsworth is already planning a new location for Nashville, and thus will be the first city Nobody’s Pizza will be expanding to as well. It will be the restaurants first expansion, and a big one for the restaurant. The restaurant serves thinner-crust pies, with any topping imaginable (jerk chicken anyone?), as well as pasta, salads, and entrees like burgers and fish.
On the other hand, the Ainsworth has already expanded to multiple locations throughout New York City, as well as one in New Jersey and Kansas City. Like most sports bars, it serves all manner of bar fare, from wings to burgers. They’re well known for their 24-karat gold wings that have gotten them a lot of recent press and a reputation for the outrageous.
This is not the first time Carmelo has made a big investment in the restaurant world, and we doubt it will be the last.
