Tinder and Bumble, two highly popular dating apps have recently launched their own version of travel features. This basically allows any user to set a desired location to meet the person of their dreams. From Paris, to Thailand, to Australia, the possibilities of people you can be exposed to are endless. With a world of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes at your fingertips, here are a few ways to navigate this feature to meet your bae from home.

Imagine your Dream Vacation Spot

What better way to plan your next trip than to talk to locals in the area? For example, if I was planning to go to London, I would ask about public transportation, the nightlife scene, and fashion trends. They will know the in’s and out’s of how to navigate the city and it could help you save a lot of time and money. Another perk, you will have a personal tour guide for when you arrive.

Expand your Cultural Knowledge

First hand conversations with people from a different culture, background and location is arguably the best way to broaden your perspective and become a better global citizen. Exchange recipes or traditions that stand out in your culture. Perhaps you could take it to the next level and schedule Skype dates. Imagine meeting someone from New Delhi and having a video chat date to cook Biryani together. Yum!

Learn a New Language

Going off of video chat dates, learning a new language taught by your new boo is a great activity to do. Especially when communication is very important in a virtual relationship. Setting goals for language learning and meeting them will also build a sense of teamwork in you and your partner.

Particularly with COVID-19 preventing travel, both Tinder and Bumble’s travel features are great alternatives to participate in the dating / travel scene without putting yourself or others at risk. While not ideal in some cases, creating a bond with someone in times like these can make it feel less overwhelming. You might learn a thing or two in the process.
