Check out all the must-see sights in London, they’re each incredible to say the least.
My first stop in Europe this summer was London. I jam-packed my 3 days with all the must-see sights that this incredible city has to offer. Check them out:
Camden Market:
Camden Market is a huge outdoor market made up of over 200 stalls of artisan crafts and gourmet food. The market is open everyday from 9:30 a.m. though 6 p.m. If you get the chance, try to visit Camden Market on a Sunday when it is bustling with people.
Hyde Park:
Hyde Park is one of the greatest parks in the world. There are many attractions include The Serpentine Bridge, the Joy of Life fountain, the Achilles statue, and Diana Memorial Fountain. Many events are hosted in the park during the summer time. During the winter, there is ice skating from November to January. In addition to these great sights, the park is a great place to enjoy a picnic, bike the 1.5 mile long walkway, or people watch.
Kensington Palace and Gardens:
This gorgeous palace was home to Princess Diana. It is full of over 300 years of history. The architecture is breathtaking. The Court Dress collection is also on display. Make sure to not miss the gardens. They are lush and peaceful.
Buckingham Palace:
This is the the Queen’s official home in London. You can tour the 19 State Rooms inside the palace from July to September. However, you must purchase tickets beforehand as they sell out. Try to visit the palace during the Changing of the Guard. The schedule can be viewed here
Harrods:
Harrods is a luxury department store opened in 1849 by Charles Henry Harrod. The store is 7 floors high and contains 330 departments and 28 restaurants. This remarkable store has everything you’d want to buy.
SoHo:
SoHo is one of the hottest neighborhoods in London. It is home to incredible shopping, popping bars and clubs, delicious restaurants, and entertaining theater. It is definitely a place you should walk around!
Sky Garden:
Sky Garden is London’s highest garden with an incredible 360 view of the entire city of London. It is free of charge, however there is a limited number of tickets each day so make sure to reserve tickets beforehand! However, they reserve walk in spaces between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Westminster Abbey:
This church was built in 1245 by Henry III. It is the resting place of 17 monarchs and where Princess Kate and prince William were married. The architecture is incredible containing stained glass, paintings, artifacts, and notable sculptures.
London Eye:
The London Eye is a huge ferris wheel on the River Thames. It is Europe’s tallest ferris wheel (443 feet fall) and gives visitors an amazing view of the city and a fabulous place for photos. Make sure to book your tickets beforehand; This is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK.
Abbey Road and Abbey Road Studios:
Abbey Road is a historic street most widely debuted on the eleventh Beatles album cover. It is an amazing place for a photo opportunity. A few steps away is the iconic recording studio Abbey Road Studios. This recording studio is known for new recording techniques that were used by famous musicians including The Beatles.
Borough Market:
Borough Market is an outdoor food market that was started in the 13th century. It has a huge variety of cheese, olive oil, wine, vegetables, fruit, tea, and spices. It is very fun to walk around the market and sample all the goodies that vendors are selling.
Platform 9 ¾:
If you are a Harry Potter fan, then this is a must. There is normally a line during the day but employees play Harry Potter in order to make the time pass. This is a great, free photo opportunity to take a photo with the sign while wearing a your desired house’s scarf and wand.
Tower of London:
This is one of the most famous attractions in London. It is home to the exquisite Crown Jewels, the Bloody Tower, and the Chapel of St. John and the Royal Armories. You will definitely learn a lot of history.
Tower Bridge:
The Tower Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in London. It is a great place to take photos. If you have time, take the tour where you will learn about the incredible mechanical workings of the bridge and will get to view the city from the upper deck which has a glass floor. Try to come back and view the bridge all lit up at night. It’s gorgeous.
