Scope the highlights from a 4-day stay in Dubai back in 2009.

Maybe it’s because I’ll have a layover in Dubai this weekend, or maybe I miss the desert heat during a freezing February. Maybe I got tired of writing about must-see’s and must-do’s in a city, ANY city. But I wanted to start a new series: Throwback Travel Diary, to reflect and to inspire – reveling the essence of Jetset Times.

Dubai is a beautiful escape, if you love the concept of Vegas. Meaning that, you can obtain extremity: the rich, the delicious, the beautiful, THE island on the artificial World Island…anything your heart desires. But that is what Dubai is: an escape, exploding in the form of indulgence. At its finest, nonetheless.

I was there during a hiatus from two jobs. Jobs that took everything out of me, jobs that I thought were my everything. During this break, I visited many places in the world. Dubai – with my family – was a sweet experience, despite the money and opulence that surrounded us during our stay at, of all places, the Burj al Arab. Yes, the world’s first seven-star hotel.

Below, scope the highlights from my 4-day stay in 2009. If you’re planning a trip, get your bookmarks ready!
