Lagos, Portugal is known for their caves and beaches, but the food is also a big factor into what makes this a HOT attraction!
Food is the most important thing to enjoy while being in a foreign country and Lagos definitely exceeds anyone’s expectations. Here’s a list of seven places to eat while in Lagos!
1. Restaurante Piri-Piri – best fresh fish
This is a traditional Portuguese restaurant that has the best Sangria. They have fresh fish and the place is always packed. They offer inside and outside dining. I highly recommend getting the grilled piri-piri or the fish. This restaurant has reasonable prices for great service and food.
2. Churrasqueira Praça D’armas – best quick lunch
If you want to grab a quick lunch then check out Praça D’armas! They have a self-service set up where you can look through the glass and choose what you want to eat! All for a great rate. It’s a small menu if you are craving something else. Also, they do not serve the same things every day, the self-service changes by the day. If you are dining in, sit upstairs on the rooftop so you can feel the cool breeze and have a view of the arc behind the restaurant.
3. Giovanni Pizzas, Pastas & Burgers – best customized pizza
Why not try pizza in Portugal? After all you are on vacation, why not explore different kinds of pizzas in different countries! Giovani’s is a small Pizzeria near major bars in Lagos. They offer outside and inside eating with free Wi-Fi! They make any kind of pizza you want but they also have other options such as pastas, burgers and salads. Best reasonably priced pizza in this area.
4. Abrigo – best rice
This is a very popular traditional Portuguese restaurant with both inside and tons of outside seating. They absolutely have the best rice here. It is self-seating, therefore grab your favorite table and a waiter will come to you with menus. The have a large menu, also offered in English, Portuguese and French. This place was one of my favorite restaurants in Lagos.
5. Goldig Café & Take Away – organic/vegan/gluten-free
Also known as Thanks for Being Mindful! This little treasure offers organic coffee and dishes. They also have many vegan and gluten-free options. The prices here are pricier than an average café in Lagos. But it is definitely a pleasant place to sit, chat and have brunch!
6. Little Break in Life – pastel de nata
If you aren’t too hungry and want to grab a pastel de nata, head to Little Break in Life. This bakery offers food, pastries and espresso. They make good iced and hot lattes. There is outside and inside seating with an urban, modern look.
7. Pastelaria Mimo – good coffee
If you’re on the run and want to grab a quick coffee or iced latte, this is the place to go! Pastelaria Mimo sells high quality coffee for a very low price. They also have many food options to grab and go.
