Every element of the property is symmetrical, digitalized, and perfectly blended into nature. eqUILIBRIA is an exceptional, cutting-edge property in Seminyak, Bali which offers guests a singular, uber-modern, and ultra-personalized experience that won’t be easily forgotten.
The property first debuted in 2011, back when it was still named Amana Villas. But as the hotel expanded, the owner also wanted to expand the concept with it, which included changing the name to something more unique like eqUILIBRIA. The property now features 25 villas, a bar-restaurant, spa, fitness center, swimming pool, and yoga garden.
The design at eqUILIBRIA Seminyak is unlike what most travelers are used to seeing at luxury hotels, especially around Bali, where most luxury villas fall back on traditional Balinese architecture. The hotel draws on lots of sharp, clean lines, dark square panels, and still nature dispersed in between. The absolute symmetry, serenity, and silence makes being at eqUILIBRIA feel almost surreal and totally unique.
eqUILIBRIA is comprised of 25 sleek and spacious villas, each with its own private pool. The layout of each villa is unconventional and incorporates many elements of nature as part of the unit. The Pool Villa is connected by 3 sets of sliding doors that open out into the garden, swimming pool, and sundeck respectively. The Waterfall Villa is eqUILIBRIA’s bestselling masterpiece: a two-story villa with an infinity pool that flows into a waterfall. Guests wake up to the sound and sight of a sleek waterfall in the bedroom downstairs and can look to the infinity pool and bamboo garden in the living area upstairs. The Signature Villa is also split into two floors with a waterfall flowing down to the bedroom and a private lap pool as the main feature.
Although guests will find it extremely difficult to step out of their private villas, exploring the property is a must. Just take a walk down along the bamboo forest next to the villas on the lower grounds. It’s natural and futuristic at the same time, and hidden inside one of the panels is a peaceful yoga garden. eqUALIZE spa is an integral part of the hotel and must be experienced if only to see the design. Stepping down to the square treatment room feels like entering a vault, but somehow, it’s incredibly soothing.
Considering the immense artistry of the villas and grounds, it makes sense that the proprietor is a Malaysian architect who wanted every feature of the property to fit into his cutting-edge vision. The hotel’s lovely General Manager, Arie Santoso, tells us the story of eqUILIBRIA’s innovative owner, Benjamin Ling.
Not only did he build the concept, but he designed everything. He designed every little thing in the villa including the waterfall concept. You have to see from the demand of the market. There’s a market that loves having modern and simple architecture. Unfortunately, Bali has a low number of products that enhance this. So he decided to build something really different because he wanted to accommodate the market that wanted a really modern design.
