With its majestic palaces and forts, bustling marketplaces, and energetic streets, Jaipur is a city that does not need an introduction.

This city is the ideal combination of historical charm and modern life. Jaipur is easily accessible by Air India flights, thus it is a great choice for a vacation destination. While it would be hard to see all this city has to offer in a single day, you can still see the most well-known and popular areas of the city. This is a proposed itinerary for a day trip to Jaipur that only covers the most well-known historical sites.
Start with Jaipur City in the morning
The first thing on the schedule for the morning is to look around the historic centre of Jaipur, which is often called the Pink City. Navigating the city is simple thanks to its grid or block architecture. This morning’s highlights include:
- The City Palace: One of Jaipur’s most intriguing locations is the majestic City Palace, which serves as the Maharaja’s residence. There are several magnificent courtyards, gardens, and buildings inside this vast complex, which blends Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. One of the outstanding examples of Rajasthani architecture still standing today, the City Palace offers tourists a look into the way of life of the royal family. Exploring the castle will likely take you 1-2 hours. The City Palace is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the last entry at 4:30 pm. You can buy your entry tickets at the ticket office after you get inside.
- Hawa Mahal: The best place to observe the City Palace’s multi-windowed Hawa Mahal is from the Sireh Deori Market. The Maharaja’s wives could see everyday activity outside their cleverly positioned windows. Due to the fact that the latticework channelled up cooler air and generated a steady breeze in the staterooms, the structure was nicknamed the Place of the Winds. Only the outside of the Hawa Mahal is worth seeing, so it does not take too long to see it.
- Jantar Mantar: The Moguls used the Jantar Mantar, a series of astronomical instruments, to predict the future. The highlight is the biggest sundial in the world, which allows visitors to see the actual movement of the sun (6 cm per minute at midday). The Jantar Mantar is worth a trip, but only if you have time to see the rest of the city as well.

- Pink City Walls: If you are going from the City Palace to the Hawa Mahal to the Jantar Mantar, you should stop at the city walls and the beautiful gates along the way. Buildings in this central district are all painted the same shade of terracotta pink, a colour that is both powerful and welcoming.
Attractions to explore during the Afternoon
- Amer Fort: Rajasthan’s Amer Fort combines powerful walls with beautiful marble craftsmanship. The fort is magnificent, towering above the surroundings. It is amazing both inside and out. As you enter, you will be taken back to a period when a luxurious lifestyle was the norm. From elaborate wall carvings to magnificent palace furnishings, every detail has been preserved. From the city centre, an auto-rickshaw or cab is needed to reach the Amer Fort.
- Jal Mahal: Jal Mahal, popularly known as the Water Palace, is a stunning palace in Man Sagar Lake. Due to its mystical look, the palace seems to be hovering above the lake. The palace was initially built in the 18th century as a hunting lodge for the Maharajas, but it has since become a popular tourist attraction in its own sense. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the palace as you stroll around the lake. Visitors cannot, however, enter the palace building.

Culture and cuisine of the area in the evening
Visit Chokhi Dhani, a resort with a Rajasthani theme that provides a look into the local culture and food, to learn about local Jaipur cuisine and culture. In addition to enjoying a delicious Rajasthani feast, visitors can participate in classical music and dance performances, camel rides, and henna tattoos. In order to fully experience the cultural performances and feast, you must visit the resort, which is located outside of Jaipur.
Although it is extremely difficult to visit every attraction there is to explore in Jaipur in a single day, this itinerary will guide you through the city’s most well-known and interesting areas. From Pink City’s historic centre to Amer Fort, Nahargarh Fort, and Chokhi Dhani, this itinerary covers the city’s highlights
