“We’re very lucky, we have a great mix of guests. Especially when big events come into town, like the Oasis concert. We also have easy access to tram stations that link to Manchester city center, or directly to the Manchester football stadium. Of course, having MediaCityUK so close to us, we also welcome a lot of business travelers.”
THE HISTORY
As global trade patterns shifted in the late 20th century, Salford Quays entered a new chapter. Former docklands were reimagined as a waterfront destination for culture, media, and modern living. The area’s regeneration transformed historic industrial spaces into a vibrant urban quarter. AC Hotel by Marriott Manchester Salford Quays reflects upon the evolution of the city with spaces shaped by function and simplicity.

The hotel is not merely located in Salford Quays — it is part of they city’s living narrative. Guests arrive from around the world to work and explore, especially in the last decade when Salford evolved into a production city, as explained by Martínez,
“People from Salford are very proud of being from Salford and not Manchester, they’re called Salfordians. There are three major attractions: one is Old Salford, Manchester Stadium and the Cricket Ground. Then, 15 years ago, BBC and ITV came to Salford and created MediaCityUK which is just in front of the hotel. In many ways, this has become a hub of entertainment.”

THE LOCATION
Located in one of Greater Manchester’s most dynamic districts, the hotel is moments from:
- MediaCityUK
- The Lowry theatre and gallery
- Old Trafford stadium
- Waterfront dining, culture, and entertainment
- Public transport connects travelers quickly to Manchester city center

“We’re also very close to The Lowry Theater which is named after the famous artist LS Lowry who was from Salford and created Matchstick Men – one of his most important art productions. It’s a representation of the society during the Industrial Revolution,” Martínez explained.
THE ROOMS
Guest rooms at AC Hotel by Marriott Manchester Salford Quays are designed to support both rest and productivity. Each space offers:
- Comfortable, high-quality bedding
- Sound-insulated rooms and blackout curtains
- High-speed Wi-Fi

- Climate control for year-round comfort
- Contemporary bathrooms with walk-in showers

THE RESTAURANT
Both the AC Lounge & AC Terrace have become the social heart of the hotel — a relaxed space that transitions seamlessly from day to night. It’s also a place to meet, work, unwind, or simply watch the day unfold along the water. Guests can enjoy European-inspired breakfast options, barista-style coffee throughout the day, a curated selection of wines, beers, and classic cocktails in the evening.

What truly sets the hotel apart from others, however, is an emphasis on locality of the people that work in the establishment. As Martínez indicated,
“We have two beers from Salford at the bar, we also try to source our food as locally as we can. But most importantly, it’s about our team members. They don’t need to be from Salford, but we love to work with people who live in nearby proximity from the hotel. So it’s less transport for them, they also know local recommendations for our guests, and it’s a way to support the local community.”
