BY WENDY HUNG
Day by day, polar vortex is backing its way from the Northeast of America. Unfortunately, upper Midwest states are still experiencing below-zero climates. Minnesota’s iciest places have reached below 30 degrees, and killer frozen wind at below 40.
While it has transformed parts of the states into the coldest winter in history, polar vortex is making us think twice about prepping well for freezing winters. Maybe it’s time that we better heat up ourselves with appropriate outwears.
Breaking them down by price ranges (since parkas tend to go as expensive as over $1,000 while not everyone has got the same bank account to splurge with), you’ll see that we’ve got something for Him & Her! If you’re stuck somewhere cold in recent weeks, unable to travel, some of these ideas may help you get warm. All of these products can be ordered online so you don’t need to suffer the cold by hitting the mall.
Now get that hot chocolate fired up and stay warm!
Less than $150:
For Him: Khaki Tokyo Laundry Parka Jacket, USD $120
With a faux fur trimmed hood, four front pockets and drawstring hem. Also, loving the vintage khaki that goes with any shade of denim.
For Her: Victoria’s Secret Belted Puffer Coat, USD $99.99 (original $178)
This is a sporty and trendy option with an affordable price for a parka. The faux-fur collar is also removable, so when the weather finally gets warmer (let’s pray), you can take the fur off. The belt is also removable to create more comfort, especially after a big hearty meal!
Less than $400:
For Him: Patagonia Men’s Venn 3-in-1 Parka, USD $379
Ready for rain, wind, snow! This versatile 3-in-1 parka now features an H2No® Performance Standard nylon shell and zip-out jacket made of recycled polyester with 60-g Thermogreen® insulation, which means this is a parka worth every penny.
For Her: Helmut Lang Plex Hooded Coat, USD $327.50 (original $655)
Can’t say NO to Helmut Lang. This gorgeous outdoor option is water resistant with a high collar that protects your neck and throat. Deep front pockets means you can stuff extra pairs of mittens in case you’re not feeling toasty enough! And this price for a high-end designer? Can’t beat it! If you get this, I might steal it from you.
For Him: Woolrich Arctic DF Parka, USD $476 (original $595)
In Woolrich lingo, DF Parka has a more regular fit compared to Woolrich’s classic parka. The best part about this series is the memory fabric, which creates one-of-a-kind comfort you just can’t find in cheaper brands.
For Her: J. Crew’s Sharpa-Lined Parka, USD $495
Can’t go wrong with olive green or dark khaki, they not only offer an adventurist look to your character but in a chic-military way. The length is kinda perfect too, just long enough to cover the butt but short enough to not drag down your frame.
For Him: Moncler Aubert, USD $1,175
The French clothing company specializes in downjackets and sportswear, so of course, I’m leaving the top luxurious spot to its Aubert parka. Moncler is known for high quality, especially the goose down that makes each jacket lightweight, insulating, easy to breathe in. This particular choice has techno fabric, a hooded neckline, two pockets, zip closure, drawstring waist.
For Her: Cinzia Rocca Down Coat – Fur Trim, USD $1,022,06 (original $1,362.75)
Just look at the color! So different, so gorgeous! Animal lovers might not like this one though, fox furs are real, imported from Italy. Yikes! This one comes hooded with non-detachable fox fur trim, concealed zip closure with fur-lined placket and front toggles. Did I mention side snap-close pockets and elasticized cuffs? If you’re looking for a parka that truly stands out in design and color, this one from Bloomy should be on your radar!
