Just when it seem flights nowadays come with so many extra fees, we were THRILLED to hear Delta Airlines’ announcement. First, remember when free meals on flights wasn’t a novelty?
Starting today, Delta is bringing back free meals to coach! Although, only with a few routes. How did it happen? WE DID! According to Time, Delta brought back the program after numerous customers filled out satisfaction cards revealing they preferred the service.
We are all about making our Main Cabin experience the best it can be for our customers and offering free, high-quality meals is a big part of that experience. When we tested this concept, our customers loved it and appreciated it so we are implementing [it] in our most strategic markets.
The selected routes with free meals are mostly the longest domestic flights, including: New York City’s JFK – LAX, and JFK and – Francisco on March 1. Later on April 24, it’ll expand to: Boston – SFO, LAX, – Seattle, JFK – Portland International/San Diego/Seattle, Seattle – Fort Lauderdale/Orlando/Raleigh-Durham, and Washington National – LAX.
Breakfast options will be: honey-maple breakfast sandwich, breakfast medley, or fruit-and-cheese plate. Meanwhile lunch can be a toss-up between a mesquite-smoked turkey combo, a Mediterranean whole-grain veggie wrap, and a fruit-and-cheese plate. For those crazy red eyes, expect a breakfast bar during the pre-arrival beverage service.
