What we like: greats deals on modern and luxury, or hotels with art galleries attached. We’re also big fans of local options, such as apartment rentals. Any option below promises to be your home to an amazing stay in Buda or Pest!
1. Brody House – Best Hidden Gem
Brody House is one artistic muse itself. A real hidden gem where artists, entrepreneurs gather to have coffee and drinks, create and innovate. It started out as a private member’s club, with unique social gatherings and hip events solely for its members. It has since expanded to offering gorgeously edgy rooms for short and long-term stays. Originally built in 1986, Tauffer Palace is now transformed to Brody House’s art venues and rental rooms decorated with works from local artists. This is the perfect location for the artist and entrepreneur in you.
2. Lánchíd 19 Hotel – Best Designer Hotel
Opened in 2007, considered as the first and only Design Hotel in the city; Lánchíd 19 Hotel sits on a beautiful location, with gorgeous views of Pest riverbank and the Buda Royal Castle. The view is even better from the two suites that come with jacuzzi tubs. If you’re looking for a sleek, modern atmosphere all around, this is the perfect hotel for you. We highly recommend this to business travelers.
3. Budapest Vacation Rentals – Best Apartment Rental
$$$$ (prices vary with different apartments) Multiple locations for different apartments (website)
We think the new wave of traveling is renting apartments so visitors can truly have a local experience. In Budapest, no other hotels will provide a better accommodation than Budapest Vacation Rentals. It comes with 6 different apartment options, all equipped with: WiFi, rainy ponchos, DVDs to guidebooks. The host, John Farago, goes out of his way to ensure travelers feel comfortable. Each apartment is beautifully decorated and are located in safe, private areas. If you’d like to check out John’s recommendations on city’s inside scoop, read more on his Staycation Spotlight on Jetest Times.
4. House Beletage – Best B&B
If you’re looking for “bang for the buck”, Hotel Beletage would be your “IT” choice. For less than USD $100 (depending on the season), you can have free continental breakfast (fruits, pastries, coffee…the usual) every morning. Each room is modern yet luxurious. We love the location too, perfect walk to Gellert bath house and Great Market Hall. This is a dream hotel option for young couples and travelers who want a better option than messy hostels.
5. Bohem Art Hotel – Best Trendy Hotel
True to its name, Bohem Art Hotel oozes of bohemian life and art galleries. Every corner of the hotel showcases creative works by local artists. The hotel also hosts frequent exhibitions and art shows to fuse the cultivation of an artistic generation. The building used to be a stationary factory, and today, it is one of the newest and trendiest hotels in Budapest. It also features a very nice concierge kit, so if our Guide to Getaway – Budapest isn’t enough (impossible!!), then you have more options to choose from.
